Avatar (19/12/09)

The Catch: Most anticipated movie this year

Need I say more? I believe we are all agree that 4 years of work is totally paid off. Taking place in Pandora - year 2154, Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) was a former marine that sentenced to a wheelchair for life. His mission is to replace his twin who had been killed. However, things are changed once he meet a native Pandora (na'vi), Neytiri (Zoë Saldana). Thanks to Cameron and team, we can experience the most fun-tasy movie ever!

Bodyguards & Assassins (Chn - 19/12/09)

The Catch: The trailer looks fine

Like most of the national-patriotic movies, you may see there's a lot of people died for a some-kind important person. A little sad, but that's part of the history.

Perfect Getaway (16/12/09)

The Catch: Turistas-look-a-like

It's a twisted couple who wants to be everyone they've met. It's a little unpredictable at the end but I'd still prefer Turistas though...

Planet 51 (12/12/09)

The Catch: (none)

I am not really enjoying the movie, perhaps there's nothing much special to anticipate for. But I do like the 'banana'-hair (:

The Private Lives of Pippa Lee (12/12/09)

The Catch: A movie for all women

Look is surely deceiving. Pippa Sarkissian-Lee (Robin Wright Penn, young: Blake Lively) was a devoted mother and faithful wife. Who knew her then life was totally chaotic. Her English-Armenian mother, Suky Sarkissian  (Maria Bello) was a 'medication' addict who just don't want to give it up, makes Pippa has to struggle with two different life and finally decide to leave her parents.

Growing up, Pippa met Herb Lee (Alan Arkin) who is actually married to Gigi (Monica Belluci). Feels like losing her dignity to Pippa, Gigi decided to kill herself. Pippa ended up married to Herb. As time goes by, Chris Nadeau (Keanu Reeves) appears in Pippa's life and one fine day, she also found out that Herb is cheating with her own best friend, Sandra Dulles (Winona Ryder). Not long after that, Herb fallen to heart attack. Her loyalty was tested.

I agree that this is the movie for all women. Worth to watch.

Zombieland (12/12/09)

The Catch: Funny version of Resident Evil

I always like to watch people running around the city avoiding zombies, it's like implicitly vanishing all human problems. Here, Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) narrates his before-zombie-life more or less like what I have in mind. Of course there's a lot of funny stupid things, yet ridiculously... I still cover both of my ears and patch one of my eye. I guess zombie is a zombie...

Ninja Assassin (08/12/09)

The Catch: What an international

A Korean star with Japanesse Ninja skills gettin' some acts in Germany. I guess the action comes a lot from Joel Silver and the bloody scenes was Wachowski Brothers'. It a little bit of Tarantino for me. However, it's not a dissapointment at all.

Couples Retreat (03/12/09)

The Catch: It's always fun to have something to laugh isn't it?

The thing that I like about this movie is that it's so refreshing! Catch it in the midst of your busy weekdays should bring another atmosphere to your work.

Twilight Saga: New Moon (29/11/09)

The Catch: Do I even have to give one?

Knowing that their presence could bring an enormous danger to Bella Swan's (Kristen Stewart) life, Edward Cullen and his family decided to leave the town. Desperately living her days in sorrow, the sullen Bella has become addicted to jeopardize her life, hoping that her vampire hero would come back and save her once again. Instead of Edward, it was her childhood friend, Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner) who's always been there for her.

As soon as Bella stumble upon the enemies, she learns that Jacob was actually a member of the jysterious Quileute tribe and could transform into a werewolf. After lots of race one against another, Bella finally reveal the true reason why Edward has to leave her.

The focal point is that Bella has to choose between Edward, the love of her life and yet always in suffer or Jacob, the charismatic long time friend who has been carrying the torch for her from the first they met.

Aside from the two heart-throbs Pattinson and Lautner, the fans will also be amused by new characters such as, Dakita Fanning (Coraline, Push) and Michael Sheen (Underworld) who plays Jane and Aro accordingly, the Italian vampire clan Volturi.

Although this is quite a handful sequel, generally director Chris Weitz is playing safe by mesmerizing teens all over the world with presenting New Moon in a sense like what Catherine Hardwicke did it with the Twilight.

Fantastic Mr. Fox (29/11/09)

The Catch: Surviving Foxes

Being a wild animal himself, Mr. Fox (voice by George Clooney) was a thief by nature. After his wife's (voice by Meryl Streep) made him swore not to do it again, Mr. Fox has agreed. However, boys will be boys. After 12 fox-years, he trips to his old habit. Planning and conducting a master thievery, he finally got his lessons to learn. I am sorry to say, there was nothing fantastic about this movie, you simply wouldn't miss much.

Beyond A Reasonable Doubt (28/11/09)

The Catch: (none)

Ambitiously want to lure a dirty D.A. Martin Hunter (Michael Douglas), an investigate-reporter CJ Nichols (Jesse Metcalfe) with a help from his best friend, deliberately place himself as a suspect in a homicide case. However, things was not working the way it supposed to be. His buddy was killed and CJ was sentenced to a death penalty.

Leaving him with no choice, Nichols ask his girlfriend, Ella, to help him dig out information herself to proof that Hunter, who happens to be Ella's boss, is the bad guy. A little surprise at the very end, honestly change my p.o.v to this movie.

Christmas Carol (28/11/09)

The Catch: Carey hates Christmas?

With a little disappointment leaving the cinema, I find this movie a little bit monotonous. Aside to the vivid visual display, I don't think I would like to watch it for next next Christmas. I think The Grinch (another anti-Christmas character, played by Jim Carey a couple years back) is slightly better.

An Education (27/11/09)

The Catch: What's the message behind?

Girls, what do you think your controversial father would say when you're dating a much older man? Scream or furious or deadly silent? That's what I have in mind, but I didn't see what's coming in this movie. Molina who plays Jack, the strict-introvert father, has accepted David (Sarsgaard) very well in his house when he finds out that he's dating her daughter Jenny (Mulligan). After a few ups and downs, of course the relations didn't work out.

I didn't mean to spoil the story to those of you who haven't watched it, because I think it was not the main message. I guess every young girls should watch it, it's a real 'education' of life. Like my aunt used to say to me; To learn from your experience is a good teacher, but to learn from other's experience is the best teacher of all.

Informant (27/11/09)

The Catch: Bourne the 4th?

Apparently, not at all. Although this is a true story, I must say it was quite boring to watch. Slightly funny but lots and lots of talking. Kinda like a mini reunion of the Ocean's Trilogy casts, even though Clooney only plays the director role.

Case 39 (27/11/09)

The Catch: Curiosity, it looks like The Orphan.

It was a casual horror movie, with demon inside little child. Something like The Omen mix with The Orphan. Not another 'Bridget Jones Diary' for Renee for sure.

Coraline (3D - 16/11/90)

The Catch: (none)

I really don't like 3D movie, the glasses makes me uncomfortable. To go with this movie? Another dizziness to struggled for about 100mins. It's a gloom and blue movie, are you sure it's not of Tim Burton's? :p

Amelia (16/11/09)

The Catch: A bit curious on how she 'vanished'

Although it's kinda intriguing, I find this movie a little bit boring. Watching her ambition in each of the expedition was just so-so to me, but there's always a love story to spice it up.

2012 (14/11/09)

The Catch: Another armageddon

It's completely massive destructive!!! Definitely great visual effect, the story kinda predictable though. Don't wait for the DVD, surely... You wouldn't want to missed this one.

Hump Day (11/11/09)

The Catch: They say Lynn Shelton is the female of Apatow

As much as I like to know a lot of things, this is not one of them. I just think it's gross to watch 2 straight guys 'doing it' for the sake of arts. More to ego, i guess. This is a complete strange idea of a movie and I watched it without even knowing any of the cast. Hhhmmm... Something to think about.

Astro Boy (11/11/09)

The Catch: ...

I watch this movie just because I love to go to cinema having a movie or two. Never occur to my mind that I'd cry over a -so called- children's movie. I somehow feel like Cage's voice is overwhelming in Tenma's character as a father. So soothing and 'cloudy'. Having said that, I have this personal feeling that he really is a family man.

Spread (02/11/09)

The Catch: Kutcher's new cougar

I'm startin' to sense that Kutcher's always in a movie surrounded by cougar lately. After Pfeiffer in Personal Effect, now Heche? Is he trying to build up this particular image out of his personal life? Whatever it is, he is a stunning 'spread'!

In reality, I do admit that he and Moore are a great couple. The relations with Willis -both Bruce and Rummer- also worked out just fine. Heche, in the other side, is a bit confusing. Is she a 'bi'? Love her new look here, the long-do fits her well.

Love Happens (02/11/09)

The Catch: Just wanna see how Aniston's hangin'

I must say this is not her best movie. A bit gloomy, not so much of comedy. Eckhart too, I think he's better in No Reservation. To sum-up: it's just... so-so.

This Is It (01/11/09)

The Catch: Final Tribute

Mesmerizing Music-Mentary! Although I'm not a big fan of MJ but I will surely burst into tears if I get the chance to watch his concert live. Can't believe he was half century old OR the fact that his absence in music industry was a decade long, nonetheless his spirits and passion never fades. His into every details, tempos and beats. One h*ll of an artist.

Some funny pick-up from me;
MJ got a huge palms / In certain angle, he looks like Julia Roberts / The glitter red shirt, tucked-in a black grey suit, that he was wearing during one of the rehearsal is sooo Monte Cristo / Heard of recent news that the first week premiere of This Is It was not as good as Disney's Hannah Montana (edited 11/11/09: in the end, of course MJ beats Hannah Montana phufff...)

Above all, my favorite is still the Smooth Criminal. It's just that too bad there's no 'leaning' this time.
So... "Annie Are You Ok?"

Jennifer's Body (01/11/09)

The Catch: Chick Flick

Pyuckkkksss! Don't watch it unless you really really in love with Fox. She's a hottie alright, but shewolf-wannabe? Think it's a bit too much. Slow pace and limited cast, thanks but no thanks.

Sorrority Row (19/10/09)

The Catch: Wanna see Demi Moore Jr?

Total disappointment! I thought this can be one of the teen-thriller that makes sense. It turns out to be just like another sequel of Scream. A maniac running here and there stabbing people? It's so Halloween. Hello? Give Michael Myers some credit will ya? So booo... The fact that Rumer Willis character also a 'screamer' wasn't thrilling at all!

Imagine That (19/10/09)

The Catch: It's kinda funny...

When you do a movie-thon, I think this can be a breezy wind to clear out your mind before you jump to another serious one. You know, family movie, very light & soothing. Easy to digest =)

My Sister's Keeper (17/10/09)

The Catch: I cried over the trailer

This is the first movie that made me cry from the very beginning all the way 'til the end. It cost me quite a lot of tissues for cryin' out loud! Coming out from the cinema with red-eye, runny-nose and soaring-voice. If I have 4 thumbs, I will give it all away.

Pandorum (17/10/09)

The Catch: Caught by the trailer.

Seriously not good. There's a lot of disturbing scene, so be warned before you're planning to catch this movie. I feel like want to throw up in the middle of the movie. Not to mention personality disorder created due to long 'hibernating' process, it's all feels so complicated.

Chéri (17/10/09)

The Catch: Ppl said that this is where Pfeiffer really shines

A story about a young man who initially being taught by an ex-seductress French about women, but in the end they're falling in love. Wasn't so hard to believe, but it won't bored you that much, as there's a climax-anticlimax in-between. I'm totally agree with the ppl, this is where you can see Pfeiffer still shining in her age.

Julie & Julia (10/09/09)

The Catch: Based on TWO true stories!

Two Jul's in two parallel life, two thumbs up. 365 days to do 524 recipes in 1 tiny kitchen. The most I love about this movie is that, you can passionately admire someone and it's only a one way direction. When Julie Powell gets a wake-up call from Julia Child -even though they've never met before-, she feels like she's been living the same live as hers. But Julia wasn't flattered at all! Unfortunate for me, I don't really get the reason behind. Anyone, feel free to fill me in.

(500) Days of Summer (10/09/09)

The Catch: Love-bites! (not so catchy, isn't it?)

Ou... Shoot me if I didn't really romancing this movie, merely because it wasn't. Love can happens to anyone in the least expected way, true that... Love it is love. You'll never know when you feel it nor lose it. Per se, you can pick up a reality check in love life.

Surrogates (04/10/09)

The Catch: Simply Bruce Willis

A fusion between Terminator and Gamer, it will be a lot of fun for those of you who like futurous thing. It might not as great as we expected to be, most of my friends who have watched it said that the ending is so predictable. Quite true, but I think it's still worth a ticket.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatball (03/10/09)

The Catch: Me want food! Me want food!

Ease your mind, this is something that we should watch for a short getaway. I think it's very entertaining, bringing childhood fantasy, the rain that you can taste ;)
There's not much of big names behind the character, but you will surely marked Anna Faris' voice in an instance.

Funny People (03/10/09)

The Catch: Searching for a peace of mind

Many ppl thought it's a rom-com, but it's actually quite a drama with a little comedy. A successful stand-up comedian George Simmons who has everything in life but ironically has to struggle with his unique leukemia illness. Getting life support from his fellow comedian -a complete stranger but ended up to be best-bud- and his ex-girlfriend who is happily married with children, makes him realize how much he has lost all this while. As always, Apatow's trying to reveal real life misery that could possibly changes one's life.

Not too shabby, you could sneak Apatow's children who played along with their real mom, Leslie Mann.

The September Issue (19/09/09)

The Catch: I -honestly- thought it was a RomCom

Wanna see The Devil Wears Prada comes to life? There you have it!
The way I see it, Miranda Priestly (a fiction character on The Devil Wears Prada) is based on Anna Wintour's (editor-in-chief of Vogue magz for 20years) real life. Oh yes, there's a lot of haute couture and pret-a-porter to see. You can also sneak on famous designers like; Oscar de la Renta, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Karl Lagerfeld and Vera Wang. Now that I see 'the making of' fashion magz, I can be more appreciative to the people behind. They are not always physically fashionable, they are too... under a lot of pressure, and you'll never know if they were once the front-liners.

Inglorious Basterds (Various Lang. - 19/09/09)

The Catch: Listening Kruger in Deustch

Salute! Kruger has busted her *ss to be able to converse in Deustch for this part and I think it's totally worth it! She's quite a vixen here... Worry not, Tarantino's (in)sanity still shown in this movie, although not as much as he did in Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction.

Whiteout (19/09/09)

The Catch: First homicide case in Antarctica?

Although I'm not very satisfied with the plot, I think this movie still worth to watch in the cinéma. I guess I didn't realize that in the whiteout, one's can't see the others till they're a breath away. Beckinsale's icy-role match nicely with the character she plays.

The Time Traveler's Wife (05-06/09/09)

The Catch: Eager to know how it works

Yea yeaaa... I know it's fiction. Not to spoil the moment, I am pretty satisfied with the ending. Unless you don't mind to know the ending before watching it, grab your ticket now!

Year One (30/08/09)

The Catch: Checking Michael Cera outside of teen-movie

Plain, merely half comedy for me... More excited to spot the cameo role. Another home-DVD for the weekend.

Final Destination 4 (29/08/09)

The Catch: (can't think of any)

Despite of the cutey Bobby Campo, this movie is sucks! Seems like watching the scenes rolling over and over again. I think they've lost the edge. As they say, three times a charm FULLSTOP

The Last House On The Left (29/08/09)

The Catch: It's been quite some time since I watched family-thriller

Well, it's not totally true. We've seen Orphan few weeks earlier (superb movie!) but this one also paid it off, not bad at all...The intensity was there, makes you like... ('0')

Coco Avant Chanel (French - 29/08/09)

The Catch: Plain curiosity

One word: Inspirational!
It's not like I wanted to be a fashion designer or what, but to look from her background all the way to the success was just remarkable. Correct me if I'm wrong, I think it proves that women doesn't always have to be somebody's wife to stand out in the society, even back in those days.  Grace à Coco -et Tatou, la grande actrice-

PS: Capel (played by Nivola) was a true gentlemen. Melting down our hearts...

Whatever Works (13/09/09)

The Catch: Getting more acquainted to Woody Allen

Truly American Comedy! I find it very dull at the first half running, but there's this caucasian -American, I guess- who keeps laughing. Didn't really gets what it means and why he could enjoy that much. After the parents character appear then I started to feel the 'it'. Generation gap might be the big problem here.

From my p.o.v, the last scene was intriguing. Tell me, how can an ex-married couple can be in the same room with their new -so called- spouses? And it's not only one couple - couple, but it's two couples - couple within' blood ties (still following me?). The mother with her new guys (that's right, GUYS with an 'S'), then there's the father with his new GAYfriend, the daughter with her new actor hook-up (pretty normal here) and lastly the daughter's ex-hubby with his new girlfriend which he fall into during his second suicide attempt. They just gather around in a room, counting down to new year. Ain't that crazy or what?

PS: Evan Rachel Wood looks like Rumer Willis meets Chloe Sevigny here.

G-Force (13/09/09)

The Catch: To kill some time (?)

It turns out watching a bunch of guinea pigs can be so much fun! No enthusiasm at first, but in the end I left the cinema smiling ^^ Oh... Didn't 'recognize' Nicholas Cage in Speckles too!

The Ugly Truth (12/09/09)

The Catch: Gerard Butler (again!)

Was not as funny as I expected to be. I guess Butler is not a romantic type (remember "PS I Love You"?). Produced by Heighl herself, it is not as good as The Proposal (also double-act by Sandra Bullock). For my note, Connolly only appears 2-3 mins, what a disappointment :-(

Dance Flick (12/09/09)

The Catch: (was) Looking for laugh...

All parody, all Wayan's... Can't say more. Save some $, better wait for DVD release.

Gamer (12/09/09)

The Catch: Gerard Butler for sure!

Sorry to say that this is a cold, harsh, futuristic movie. Don't enjoy any bit, perhaps because I am not a techie. If you're planning to catch it in cinema, make sure you sit at least 7 rows from the screen due to rapid movement in several scene.

9 (12/09/09)

The Catch: One of Tim Burton's

Even-though this is Burton's project, I somehow feels like there's Shyamalan touch in this movie. Perfectly detailed! At certain scenes, I even forgot that it was animated.
